Mindfulness has become so ubiquitous that the true meaning of the word has been lost in our desire to find a quick fix to stress and other challenges in our lives.
This 8-week course will introduce you to a number of meditation practices that are designed to help you to cultivate mindfulness. But more than that, we'll explore how to integrate these practices into your life in practical ways. You'll leave with a toolbox of meditations and a changed approach to life which can lead to long term transformation.
This course is special. Why? Because everyone enrolled in the Embodied Wellness Membership can take the course access the course as a self-study endeavor. But for those who are Plus+ Memberships, this course can also be taken live! Each quarter we offer the opportunity to learn with others in real time. We explore the course week-by-week and gather online via Zoom for learning, meditation, and meaningful discussion.
We've broken this 8-week series down into two 4-week segments. You can take them back-to-back or explore one a quarter.
The first segment introduces several basic meditations on the breath, body, and touch. We'll explore how to utilize these meditations as a gateway to cultivating present moment awareness, acceptance, and patience.
The second segment includes standing meditation, mindfulness movement practices, open awareness, and compassion practices. As we move through the various forms of meditation we'll uncover how they nourish the mind-qualities of equanimity, curiosity, self-compassion, and balanced effort.
Bringing Mindfulness To Life is an 8-week program designed to be a practical introduction to a number of meditation practices which cultivate mindfulness. We've broken the live sessions down into two 4-week segments so that you can take time to embody what you learn.*
Each 4-week series, consists of four sessions. Each session is 45-minutes long and includes formal meditation practice, a brief presentation on the relevance of the practice to specific aspects of our life, and the development of important qualities of mind.
*The live sessions are included in the Embodied Wellness Plus+ Membership. However, those who have the Core Membership can purchase them separately.
Jon Aaron first came across meditation in the 1970s, and then became more involved with the Insight Meditation community in the late 1990s, studying mindfulness meditation and Buddhism, which have since become central to his life. Along the way, Jon was asked to become a Practice Leader and started formally training to teach.
Jon trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, which has granted him full certification as an MBSR teacher. He has taught over 65 cycles of the seminal curriculum, as well as numerous courses for alumni of the program. He is a co-founding member of New York Mindfulness Meditation Collaborative.
Following an interest in working with people struggling with trauma, Jon studied with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, which as qualified him as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®, having completed the 3-year professional training.
