The path to better nourishment begins with awareness. Through awareness, knowledge, and community, we welcome you to explore which foods that you choose to nourish yourself with and how your food and eating patterns impact your day-to-day wellbeing.
The opportunity from these lessons is to reexamine or to strengthen eating practices and beliefs in the context of your whole life and to take your exploration of nutritional principles to the depth and intensity that feels right to you. At first, it might make the most sense to just build awareness around eating practices. As you delve into other areas of A Space to Grow and begin cultivating different types of awareness, you might notice that you think about the types of foods that you eat in a different way. New ideas or questions about what to eat could come to mind, or you might find different opportunities to experiment with nourishment or eating.
Just as many of our movement patterns form over our whole lives and become habitual, so can our food preferences and habits. The food environments that many of us live in and around can make it challenging to make the best choices for our bodies at times.
The choice of what to eat is one that we make many times over the course of each day, week, month, year and lifetime. When you bring conscious awareness to each eating choice, though those choices can look much different for each of us, what changes? What feels most important to focus on? Where do you feel discontent or disconnected within your eating choices? Where do you feel the most grounded and at peace with your eating choices? Are your eating choices allowing you to experience physical health and wellbeing? This community is a wonderful place to strengthen your foundation for nourishment in a meaningful way.
These lessons are never meant to be food ‘prescriptions’ for the "right" way to eat. No one person can give you all of the information that you need to decide what, how much, or when to eat. Knowledge about the nutritional composition of food and food patterns, properties of various foods, and the biological impacts of food choice and timing can be critical in allowing you to make strategic decisions. However, it is only through experiencing for yourself different ways of cooking and eating that you can decide how best to eat. The conversations that we have about food and nutrition are meant to provide ideas and inspiration. As a member of ‘A Space to Grow’, this is a community for you to explore ways to add more enjoyment and possibility to your own personal eating patterns.
