Feldenkrais Practitioner® + Health Coach

HI! I'M BUFFY OWENS. I'm a Feldenkrais Practitioner® and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. I've got a steadfast passion for helping folks move beyond pain and into a life that fills them up — body, mind, and spirit.

Most of the people that I work with have been suffering from complex pain for so long, that the idea of getting back to living a life they love seems impossible. I help them to gain the knowledge, skill, and awareness that's necessary to shift from a life of suffering to one of meaning and joy.

Everyone is moved by something...

What's moved and motivated me has shifted throughout the years. In my early days of exploring the mind & body, I was moved to heal. I was driven by just enough dysfunction to evoke a desire for something different.... something more.

Gradually what moved me shifted...

Today, I'm moved by a deep sense of awe and curiosity! I lean into my personal practice (read spiritual vow) through my work here at Conscious Movements and over at A Space To Grow, an online Feldenkrais & Functional Medicine Health Coaching studio. I use the almighty menu, gentle movement, mindfulness + meditation, and human-focused education to help those with complex pain to thrive. My primary focus is on empowering movers, shakers and mindfulness makers…. and all of those who want to be, with the skills they need to move past the discomfort that is holding them back from living fully!

I envision a world where every human being can regain and maintain their health, well-being and emotional freedom to live life to the fullest. I am soul-fully committed to improving the Well-Being of humanity by empowering individuals of all ages to cultivate their passion for learning, movement, and self-discovery.

I strive to have people just like you become an embodied expert on themselves and all that they do. Meaning: they start to experience themselves fully, so that they can know what they do and do what they want — from pain-free movement, to aligning their inner integrity with their outer actions for a more fulfilling life.

My goal is to help people with complex pain maximize their ability to heal by focusing on living well!

My mission is to end suffering at an individual level (i.e. you) to transform the world.

I am blessed to have a livelihood that allows me to live my vows while pursuing my love for movement, meditation, and geeking out human sciences. What's better? I get to merge this love with helping others through the work that I do every. single. day.

I’ve studied the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, founder of The Feldenkrais Method®, for more than a decade, and have gone through a 4-year intensive Professional Feldenkrais Teacher Training Program®. I’ve taught public classes, built a private practice in San Diego, CA and then Troy, NY.  Dr. Feldenkrais’ principles about neuroplastic healing and Awareness Through Movement are a BIG part of my online teachings, in-person sessions, and my own personal movement practices.

I put in some serious hours studying the principles of Functional Medicine & nutrition, mind-body medicine, and positive psychology coaching. The pillars of Functional Medicine Coaching are in total alignment with my work as a Feldenkrais Practitioner and my studies in the BioPsychoSocial Model of addressing pain. The Functional Medicine Coach Training Academy was founded in collaboration with the Institute For Functional Medicine, so all of my training prepared me to partner with you and your medical team.

I started my academic years a wee bit later than most, as I spent the first few years after high school studying and practicing massage therapy. But eventually, I traded in my massage table for more academic pursuits—earning a degree in Kinesiology with special emphasis in Psychology & Neuroscience from CU Boulder. There, I was fortunate to take classes in Biomechanics, Brain & Behavior,  Sensory Motor Neuroscience,  Mind-Body Medicine, and so much more. This degree's emphasis on whole-body function and its applications to human health played a crucial role in my professional interests and development.
